Day 113, Kid Gore Shelter
Latitude: 43.014146 Longitude: -73.042946
I left Bennington VT at 8:15 this morning to get back on the trail and start a steep uphill hike and pass by the “Split Rock” which is a bolder thats about 12 feet high and about as wide that looks like someone sliced it down the middle and spaced it so hikers could pass thru. Today I met Lazarus who was doing a slack pack going South and it looks like we will meet up on the 6th to discuss hiking together as long as he hits his mileage goals. I also met a young woman “Texas” who was hiking the Long Trail which shares about 100 miles with the AT we talked about the trail and gear. She was moving faster than me but we met up again at a watch tower where she shared that she was toasting her dad which she lost a couple of weeks earlier. I assisted her by taking her photo so she could capture this moment. Apparently her dad loved the out doors and this was her way of honoring her father. I got to Kid Gore Shelter which had a great view for sunrise but no good tenting sites so into the shelter I went.
