Day 128, Notch Hostel
Latitude: 44.029502 Longitude: -71.705639
Given the bad day on the 18th we left the Hostel on the 11am shuttle to take advantage of a lazy morning. We got on the trail and headed for the Garfield Ridge Shelter. The day started with a steady climb to Little Haystack Mountain at 4780ft and at this point we were above the tree line with views to Mt Lincoln at 5089ft and Mt Lafayette at 5260ft. The views spread out before us were incredible. When we reached Lafayette the winds were over 40mph gust which tried to push us off the mountain. With the big mountains done we only had to get to Garfield to end the day but the trail was a bit treacherous after a long day with some of the down hill with water flowing down the trail-crazy! I got in around 7pm and got settled and had dinner but Lazarus didn’t arrive until after 8pm so today was another bad day. He went straight to bed without eating and he mentioned he wasn’t well-miles and hills are doing a number on his knees and mine too.
