Day 15, Mollies Ridge shelter

The first day in the Smokies but before entering the park I had to hike across the Fontana Dam which was pretty cool to look down over the side and see how tall the Dam really was. Just before entering the park and depositing my permit I saw a hiker carrying a log up the trail. Apparently he was doing it to raise money for the wounded warrior program. I hiked the day by myself and met other hikers at the shelter-stayed the night in the shelter by myself and one little mouse that tried multiple attempts to enter my space but once he hit my tyvex ground cloth i would hear the crinkling sound of his approach and shine my head lamp on him causing an immediate retreat.
