Day 157, Mount Katahdin Summit

Today we started our hike at 5:00am to summit Mount Katahdin. We entered the park and met the ranger to get our thru-hiker cards and officially started up the Hunt trail at 7:30. Jared joined me on the trail today and we hiked together to the summit of the cloud peak. As we were approaching the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail on the top of Baxter peak I was excited to see the sign that signified the end of my long, fullfilling journey. With the AT journey now complete, we had the ardourous task of descending back to camp. 5 miles down the Abol Slide Trail, a steep (very steep) rock slide through rain and 25 knot winds.
