Day 17, Mt. Collins Shelter

Today I crossed the 200 mile mark at Clingman’s Dome which is the highest point on the AT at 6658ft. The road to this area doesn't open till April 1 so we had a private showing of the Dome and the great views. On the way down to the next shelter there were patches of ice covering the trail. We got a weather alert to stay in a shelter due to wind speeds over 65knots😱. We had 13 in the shelter with some pushing BIG miles to get off the mountain and go into Gatlinburg. During the night you could hear some big trees coming down!
