Day 47, Rice Field Shelter
Latitude: 37.374909 Longitude: -80.758352
I set off before breakfast at 630 since I knew it was going to be a long day. The POD was Parisburg for lunch and more snickers bars then onward to Rice Field Shelter at the top of the next ridge about a 18.7 mile day not including town walk. The only point of interest along the trail was the views above town- angels rest a rock that you could sit on that had a clear view of the whole town- sat there for 10 minutes but had to go- lunch was calling. I made the decent into town and stopped at the mexican restaurant for the beef burrito plater, Queso and two IPAs. Next the gas station for snickers bars and a sprite then back to the trail for 8.5 miles crossing the new river for what felt like an all up hill hike. Got to the shelter around 6pm and was alone until another hiker arrived at 7 who stayed in the shelter with the mouse we saw during dinner. It was a quite night with rain starting around 3am.
