Day 58, Paul C Wolfe shelter

Latitude: 37.985229 Longitude: -78.883595
I ended up getting up in time to climb to the top of Spy Rock to snap a couple pictures of sunrise at 6:09 then a hot breakfast and on trail at 7:45. I decided to hike to the shelter just before Reed’s Gap and see how I felt before making the decision to continue to Reed’s Gap and try to get a shuttle or hitch to the Devil’s Backbone Campground and Brewery. I reached the shelter with time and legs enough to reach the Gap and onto DB. The milage for the day was 19.4miles and there was no shuttle so hitching was the only option. I was giving it till 6:45 to get a ride of search for a stealth site for the night. I was lucky enough to get a ride from a local Wintergreen Resident who drove me on my first hitch ever! I was able to join the other hiker trash at the brewery and enjoy a beer or two. I had the lumberjack burger which had 3 patties, cheese, bacon, jalapeño’s and pickles plus a salad and large soft pretzel with mustard. Just before heading over to the tenting area I got a banana pudding dessert to end the night.
