Day 99, Greymoor Spiritual Life Center ball field
Latitude: 41.347346 Longitude: -73.919041
This morning 5am- I was awakened to the sound of my bear canister rolling on rocks. I got out of my tent and there was a black bear playing with the canister! Well with some shouting and hand clapping by me and two other hikers the bear moved on to bother some other campers. Apparently this bear made the rounds to other tents and ripped one persons tent. With the bear gone I hiked over Bear Mountain which I think has more steps than Amicalola Falls Georgia so it was a tough hike up and over the mountain down towards Fort Montgomery to the bear mountain inn for lunch followed by crossing the Hudson and getting dinner at the Appalachian Market which had a great deli. I spent a few hours here eating and charging electronics before going to camp with the other hikers. During my hike I could hear gun and cannon fire from West Point Academy. When I reached the bottom of the hill I went towards the zoo that the trail passes thru but unfortunately it was closed for construction so I had to follow the blue blaze alternate used by those traveling with dogs. I crossed the Hudson River and climbed the hill to the Appalachian Market where I spent 3 hours charging my electronics and doing a small resupply before finishing the day with a 1mile hike to the baseball fields at the Franciscan Friars compound.
